Restore Youth - Maybe this would come up once in a campaign for an RP reason? Maybe? Restore Life - Again, not horrible, but just makes the Wizard into a once-per-day poor man's divine caster. Panacea - Ok not horrible, but a mere shadow of what any divine caster can pull off. Master Transmuter - Once per day you can spend 10 minutes to convert a 5 foot cube of material? At level 14, Wizards can do lots of this kind of stuff already with other spells. Not horrible, but still seems really unimpressive. But as it is, sure you can do some light scouting I guess once per short rest? But again, isn't that what Arcane Eye and other Divination spells are for? So between the Wizard already getting access to Polymorph, Arcane Eye, etc. If it was at-will or something (which is maybe too much considering what the Druid gets) at least that'd be something. One very weak version of Polymorph per short rest? Doesn't seem very impressive. Resistance - Being able to switch every time you cast a Transmutation spell is at least something, but again you can just cast Protection From Energy Prof in Con saves? It's very nice, but Wizard is quite SAD so Resilient Con is a fairly easy pickup (granted, only if feats are allowed). Not horrible, but can be totally replicated by spells and/or a feat: But wow, this seems really limited by the 10 minute cast time *and* concentration. If you could transmute on the fly, maybe that'd be something. Has some minor RP uses, but the 10 minutes required to use this feature seems to make those uses very few and far between. And try as I might, I just can't find much interesting about Transmutation. Wizard is my favourite class in 5e, I've played several and have some fun ideas for all of the others except Transmutation. ![]() The Costa Rica national football is dearly beloved by the people. ![]() You see soccer fields everywhere throughout the country, and you may be surprised how often you see either a pick-up game or an organized local team practicing in these fields. If a game is on, the locals are watching. Soccer (futbol in Spanish) is absolutely everything to Ticos. You can even use it to express how you are doing when asked. Pura Vida is often used as a greeting or farewell. “Pure life” embodies the idea of enjoying life instead of rushing through it. Pura Vida is the phrase of the Costa Ricans and also their way of life. Here is an overview of some of the special ways Costa Rican locals are set apart. Ticos are extremely friendly people with rich history and custom. The phrase came from the common habit of Costa Ricans adding “tico” to the end of words. “Tico” is used for men, and “tica” for women. The term “ticos” is the collective name Costa Ricans gave themselves. It is important to understand their culture not only to fit in, but to also respect their traditions and way of life. I could obviously go on, but I believe the above list represents common aspects of the culture that can help you to adapt to and have a better experience of Costa Rica.Whether you are vacationing or moving to Costa Rica, you are going to be spending much time with the locals. A good example of tico politeness is their non-use of the informal form of the personal pronoun you, which in Spanish is “tú,” opting rather to use the more formal “usted.” It pays to learn to hold one’s temper and learn to say please and thank you. Tico culture is for the most part extremely polite and cordial. They are also known to administer “lessons in patience” when confronted with examples of gringo impatience.ġ0. I believe they have had to learn that from enduring endless lines at banks and government run monopolies like ICE (the telephone company). Ticos are extremely patient people for the most part. ![]() The normal Costa Rican lady (note, that I am not talking about the ones found in the “Hotel Del Rey”) is quite conservative, even though not shy about dressing and carrying herself in a way that men find irresistible.ĩ. A man can be fooled into believing that due to the sensuality and sexiness of the ticas, that their attitudes about sex in general are liberal. So if you happen to be the object of admiring glances, or “piropos” (flirtatious remarks), it is better to be flattered than offended.Ĩ. Tico men are not shy at all about expressing the fact that they believe a woman to be attractive. ![]() Holidays are always family-centered events.ħ. Family get-togethers are a frequent happening, especially on the weekends. The country is small, so you are never too far away from extended family members. If you ever get a chance to watch a couple who really know their stuff, it can be quite an amazing sight.Ħ. The most típico (again, traditional) style of dance is the “swing-criollo” style of cumbia that ticos dance in a way that is very unique to their culture. Pura vida literally means “pure life” and is used most often in greetings, such as in the typical exchange…”como esta?”…response: “pura vida.” Mae is a slang expression, and is used to represent what in English would commonly be replaced with “man” or “dude,” as in “how’s it going, dude?”…”como esta, mae?”ĥ. The two most noticeable are the use of the phrase “pura vida” and the repeated use of the word “mae” in informal conversations. Like all Latin countries, ticos have their own idiosyncratic and colloquial expressions. Hence the often heard phrase, “tico-time,” usually used by gringos to refer to the fact that ticos are routinely late.Ĥ. Ticos are very laid-back when it comes to time issues and punctuality. Also, the “típico” (or traditional) meal served at lunch is called a “casado” and is a “marriage” (hence the name…casado, which means married in Spanish) of rice, beans, a meat of choice, platano maduro (or, ripe plantain), salad and potato or yuca, sometimes also served with a fried egg on top.ģ. As far as food is concerned, the signature “dish” of Costa Rica is gallo pinto, which is a rice and beans mix that is served at breakfast. Therefore, even if they don’t agree with you, there may be signals that they do, and this can be a bit confusing.Ģ. Ticos are a very peaceful people, except when they are driving an automobile (or moto…motorcycle). Based on my observations after living here for some time, here are ten aspects of the tico culture that you might want to know about….ġ. Of course, the concept of “culture” cuts across all aspects of life. Many of our customers at Package Costa Rica are interested in knowing what the culture here is like. As with all Latin American countries, Costa Rica is rich in culture and tradition. Tico Culture – Ten Things You Might Want to Know The apps then determine how much time it took before all data were received and use this information to provide you with your real upload speed. When Wi-Fi speed test apps measure upload speed, they establish multiple connections to various remote locations and send precisely calculated chunks of data. By others, we mean your friends and family on instant messaging applications, remote servers hosting various websites and services, and also your peers on file-sharing networks. In the simplest terms, upload speed measures how fast you can send data to others. The time it takes for the reply to arrive is latency, and Wi-Fi speed test apps typically test it multiple times before determining the final result. ![]() You already have the download link, so you simply paste it into your web browser and press Enter.ĭepending on your Internet connection, it may take anywhere from several milliseconds to several seconds for the download to begin because it takes a certain time for the server to fulfill the download request. Let’s say you want to download a file from a remote server. In computer networking, latency is the time it takes data packets travel from their point of origin to their destination. From the point of view of regular Internet user, download speed is the most important measurement as it dictates how fast websites load and how long it takes for websites to load, but latency and upload speed are also critical for having an enjoyable web browsing experience. Virtually all Wi-Fi speed test apps test the following components: latency, upload speed, and download speed. We’ve selected the top 7 best Wi-Fi speed test apps that you can use to instantly check Wi-Fi speed and picked our favorite. We recommend you to choose a wireless speed test app from a professional developer that knows how to develop world-class software and always stands behind its customers. There are many wireless speed test apps out there, but only a handful are mature, polished products that are ready for daily use. The last thing you want to do is accuse your ISP of not living up to its promises only to find out that the Wi-Fi speed test app you’ve been using is inaccurate. What may be even more important than features, though, is accuracy. Always select a wireless speed test app that supports the latest Wi-Fi standards and the most commonly used Wi-Fi frequency ranges. Simplicity has its merits when you only need to check what your current Wi-Fi speed is, but extra features come in handy when you decide to do something about it. ![]() Instead, you should pick something that’s easy to use and comes with an intuitive graphical user interface. If you’re a home user, you probably don’t want to spend long hours learning how to use a professional application that offers 100x as many features as you actually need. People often ask, “I want to test my Internet speed but which Wi-Fi speed test app should I choose?” The answer is simple: choose the app that best meets your needs.Īs you’ll see, some Wi-Fi speed test apps are extremely simple and designed to do just one thing, while others are more complex. ![]()
![]() However, it can be fun to add your own additional rules to a) keep the players in check and b) put them under pressure.īelow are a list of rules that are commonly used in pub golf events. We've already discussed the basic rules for running a pub golf event. Its obviously better if you find that out before you reach their door. Some pubs have a strict policy of no entry when it comes to large groups on a crawl. If you don't know the venues well, you can contact them and ask what their policies are with regards to organised groups visiting their establishments. So, if you want your players to complete the course then make sure your final few holes are bouncer free. And, despite their best efforts, their intoxicated state will be blatantly obvious. As the night progresses, your players will be drunk. Make sure you put pubs with lenient door policies at the end of the course. If you cant do that, then an alternative would be to hire a bus and get the Caddie to transport your players between pubs. With this in mind, make sure your pubs are close together. Also, as the night progresses, no taxi is going to stop for a mob of wrecked golfers in fancy dress. ![]() A pub golf outing is going to get old quick, if players have to walk miles between pubs. Make sure your venues are within walking distance of each other. However, there are a few things to consider when creating your course. Basically, you list nine or eighteen pubs. If you are organising the pub golf event then you will be expected to plan the pub golf course. This scoring mechanism is then repeated in every pub/hole, and the players accumulated score for each pub/hole is their final score for the course. His next pub is the Winchester which is designated as a par three hole. Lets suppose that Joe Blogs is participating in a game of pub golf. To reiterate this point, lets look at an example. If they complete the drink in less sips/gulps than the designated par then they finish below par. If the player requires more sips/gulps to finish the drink than the designated par then they finish above par. In order to complete the hole on par, the player must finish the drink in a number of sips/gulps equal to the designated par.Īs an example, on a par three hole, a player must finish the drink in three sips/gulps. It works as follows.Įach pub/hole has a designated drink and par. The loser must carry out a humiliating forfeit. The player with the highest score at the end of the course is the loser. The player with the lowest score at the end of the course is the winner. All players will pair up, keep each other’s scores and drink within sight of their playing partner. The players score for the course is the sum of their scores for each hole. The players score for a hole is based on the number of sip/gulps taken to complete the drink. Each player must consume the holes designated drink or a choose from a list of drinks which have the appropriate par. Each hole will be completed within 30 minutes. Each hole must be visited in the designated order. The course consists of nine or eighteen holes. And, the latter is important because cohesion can be a problem as the night proceeds and the drinks flow.īelow is a list of the basic rules that are required to run a pub golf event. So, I thought I would put together a guide specifically for the reddit community. ![]() Of course, one mans website - especially this man - can only go so far, and it certainly can't go as far as reddit. So, I created my own website and released it into the wild with a fully detailed pub golf guide. However, I didn't think the websites out there went into enough detail. ![]() And, in fairness I found what I was looking for. Like any sane person, I headed to Google for information. Not so long ago, I needed to put together a course and scorecard for a pub golf event. ![]() I think despite those things, this novel carries an important message and was bravely written. This is a heavy story and very grim in moments. He has very few friends and spends most of his free time watching old. Leonard is eccentric and has trouble connecting with his peers. Leonard is the main character of this novel and the novel is told in his perspective on his eighteenth birthday. It’s always tragic to see a teen give up on life – and everyone always wants to tell the kid, hey, think of your future! Here, in this novel, instead of some well-meaning adage, Quick paints this fascinating picture of the future Leonard could have. Leonard Peacock is an eighteen year old senior in high school. I loved that the letter-writers related this dystopian, post-apocalyptic world and that despite the whole world falling to pieces, Leonard had found the people who loved and understood him. One thing that sets this novel apart from others featuring a teen shooter is the letters from the future featured at intervals during the story. It is incredibly poignant, heart-wrenching and very real because Leonard could be anyone's child the end result of selfish parents who do not pay attention to their kids and of teachers who ignore warning signs. He wants to believe that a better future exists, and we see that hope at war with the depression and fury within. Forgive me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick, author of The Silver Linings Playbook, is a remarkable, relevant story in today's world. Though it’s clear his family life is awful and his school life a torment, an impossible thread of hope remains deep inside him. While the story by its nature is pretty grim, Leonard manages to relate events with some wry humor and an appreciation for the ridiculous. We all know how much Americans love guns, as Matthew Quick is all-too-painfully aware in his novel Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock, a dark yet sombre tale of a. They plead with and encourage him to have hope, to think of his future. Most of the time, Leonard believes hes weird and sad but these friends have made him think that maybe hes not. As Leonard delivers the presents, it’s clear there are people who care for him and who suspect that Leonard has chartered a short, one-way ticket to self-destruction. This book is about a sort of sick quest - a quest that will involve Leonard saying goodbye to the people he cares about the most in this world. ![]() Some others on here may be able to verify whether or not the camera has power to it all the all the time or not, but I’m betting that it doesn’t unless in reverse.
